UBC Hospital - Cardiac Ultrasound

Yesterday I had an HSG test for the first time at UBC hospital. I had extreme anxiety anticipating this test but the staff and doctor who did my exam were so accommodating and gentle. I have vaginismus which makes tests like this a lot more difficult. One of the nurses Sam held my hand and comforted me during the entire time. The doctor kindly allowed me to take breaks in between the test to check in with me or to tell me what was happening next. In the end - the exam was not as bad as I had anticipated. I also have endometriosis and I am used to the painful cramps. I didnt even feel anything when the dye went into my tubes. Let this be a sign for anybody who is worried about this test that if I can do it - you absolutely can! And if you decide to go to UBC hospital you will be taken care of so graciously.

I was shocked by how quickly I got in for my CT Scan. Since I wasn't wearing anything with metal on it, they took me in my street clothes and I was in/out in 20 min.

Today’s HSG at UBC Hospital is something I will never forget for many years to come. The experience was both challenging and deeply heartwarming. As someone who is very afraid of pain, my mind went completely blank at the thought of the procedure. But the encouragement and kindness from the nurses, Chloe and Andy, felt like a warm breeze in the middle of a storm. They were not only incredibly nice, but also professional and reassuring. The doctor was also incredibly gentle and professional, which greatly eased both my fear and the discomfort.The entire procedure turned out to be so much better than I had imagined. This medical team made me feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for. For every woman who hopes to become a mother, that sense of warmth and reassurance is truly precious and invaluable.
