Disclosure
How Vancouver Ultrasound Finder earns revenue, how that revenue interacts with editorial decisions, and how user data flows through the platform. Version 1.0 · published 2026-06-16.
Vancouver Ultrasound Finder (vancouverultrasound.ca) is an independent editorial directory and decision-support tool for Metro Vancouver ultrasound services. We earn revenue from a paid Verified Partner Program. This page lays out — in plain language — exactly how that program works, what it does and does not influence, and what we do with the information users submit through our tools.
1. How we make money
Our sole current revenue source is the Verified Partner Program. When a user completes the Coverage Checker tool and submits an inquiry for a specific clinic, we forward that inquiry to the clinic. If the selected clinic has joined the Verified Partner Program, we earn a per-qualified-lead fee. If the clinic is not a Partner, we still forward the inquiry — free of charge to both the user and the clinic.
We do not earn revenue from: advertising, programmatic ad networks, sponsored articles, sale of user data to third parties, affiliate links to non-clinical services, paid placement on city or service pages, or commissions on any insurance or financial product. If any of these revenue sources are added in the future, this page will be updated with the effective date and the change logged in our public changelog.
2. Partner tiers and what they do
- Listed Only (free, default): every Metro Vancouver clinic that meets our editorial inclusion criteria appears in our listings at no cost.
- Verified Partner 🛡️: clinic has joined the paid program on a per-qualified-lead basis. They receive a visible "Verified Partner" badge, may submit verified business hours, photos, and a clinic description that we edit for accuracy, and receive priority routing for inquiries that match their declared service area. Editorial classification and DAP accreditation status are not influenced by partner enrollment.
- Featured Partner ⭐ (limited slots): same as Verified, plus rotation in the Home page Featured Clinics carousel.
Specific per-lead pricing is negotiated directly with each clinic and not published publicly. Clinics interested in joining contact us through Clinic Contact.
3. How partner status affects rankings (and how it doesn't)
In Coverage Checker results, clinics are ranked by the following sort, in order — see the Methodology page for the full algorithm:
- Service type match
- Reimbursement path match (MSP vs Private)
- City match
- Partner tier (Featured → Verified → Listed Only)
- DAP accreditation status
- Tie-breaker: rating × log(review count)
Partner tier is the fourth sort key — applied only within a tie of equally-relevant matches on service, payment path, and city. A Listed Only clinic that better matches the user's actual needs will always outrank a Featured Partner that doesn't. We never accept payment to override the first three sort keys.
What partner status does not affect: editorial inclusion in the directory; reimbursement class assignment (A, B, or C); DAP accreditation status display; Google rating or review count display; service taxonomy mapping; methodology disclosure; corrections and dispute processes; whether the clinic is included in city hubs, service pillars, or search results.
4. User inquiry data — what we collect and where it goes
When a user submits a Coverage Checker inquiry, we collect: the answers they provided in the tool (service type, city, payment path, urgency, language preference, age/condition where applicable), their selected clinic, and the contact information they choose to share (typically name + email or phone). We forward this package to the clinic the user selected.
We do not: sell, share, or syndicate user inquiry data to any party other than the specific clinic the user selected; re-target users with display advertising; build behavioural profiles for sale; share inquiry data with insurance carriers, lead aggregators, or marketing networks; retain inquiry contact information beyond 90 days after the inquiry is closed.
We comply with: the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, federal) and BC's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA, provincial). Users have the right to access, correct, or delete their inquiry data by emailing privacy@vancouverultrasound.ca; we respond within 30 days as required by PIPA.
Opting out: after an inquiry is forwarded to a clinic, the user's relationship is directly with the clinic. We do not have control over the clinic's downstream handling of that contact. We disclose this on the inquiry form: "When you select a clinic, your contact information is forwarded to that clinic. The clinic's privacy policy governs further use."
5. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand site usage in aggregate (visitor count, page popularity, referrers, device types). Analytics data is not shared with clinics and is not used to identify individual users. Standard cookies may be set by the analytics provider.
6. Editorial independence
All clinic listings, DAP accreditation data, reimbursable class assignments, service mappings, and contact information are derived from public sources. Sources are named on the Methodology page and cited on each clinic detail page. Editorial decisions about what to include, how to classify, and how to describe are made by the editorial team independently of revenue considerations.
Editorial copy on city hubs, service pillars, guides, and clinic detail pages is human-authored. We do not use AI-generated descriptions to fill clinic profiles. Where we use Google review excerpts, we surface them with attribution and do not edit the text.
7. Conflicts of interest
Clinic ownership: Vancouver Ultrasound Finder and its operators have no ownership stake in any listed clinic. We are not affiliated with any health authority, hospital, diagnostic imaging chain, or clinic group.
Referring physicians: we do not pay or receive payment from any physician, nurse practitioner, or midwife for referrals. We do not maintain financial relationships with referring providers.
Insurance and financial product partnerships: none currently in place. Should we ever launch an affiliate relationship with an insurance carrier or financial product provider (e.g. extended health benefits comparison), it will be disclosed on this page with the effective date and full terms.
External agency relationships: Vancouver Ultrasound Finder is operated under the editorial direction of a Vancouver-based marketing team. Where any team member has a separate commercial relationship with a listed clinic — for example, providing SEO or web services to that clinic's primary website — the team member recuses from editorial decisions about that clinic and the recusal is logged internally. Currently no such relationships are active for any listed clinic.
8. Quarterly Partner log
Each quarter we publish a summary of: total Partners by tier, newly-onboarded Partners, departed Partners, and any material changes to the program. Partner clinics are identified by a Verified or Featured badge on their listing. Clinic owners can contact us through Clinic Contact to verify or update their listing.
9. Corrections and complaints
Factual corrections: email corrections@vancouverultrasound.ca with the specific claim disputed, the correct fact, and a citable public source. We respond within 5 business days and publish within 14 days, linked from the original page. The full process is documented in Methodology §8.
Privacy complaints: email privacy@vancouverultrasound.ca. If we cannot resolve the complaint to your satisfaction, you may file with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca) for PIPA matters, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada for PIPEDA matters.
Editorial complaints: email editor@vancouverultrasound.ca. Editorial team responds within 10 business days.
10. What we will never do
- Accept payment to exclude or downgrade a non-partner clinic.
- Accept payment to bypass the sort algorithm priority order (service → payment path → city → partner tier → DAP → tie-breaker).
- Present sponsored content as editorial. Any sponsored content, should it ever exist, will be visually distinct and labeled "Sponsored".
- Sell, share, or syndicate user inquiry data outside the specific clinic the user selected.
- Use AI to fabricate clinic descriptions, reviews, or any content presented as editorial.
- Allow a Verified Partner to suppress, edit, or remove their Google reviews from our display.
- Recommend a clinic based on payment when the user's needs are objectively better served by a non-partner.
- Manipulate the methodology document retroactively to favour a partner — methodology changes are versioned, dated, and publicly logged.
11. Audit log
Material changes to this Disclosure — new revenue source, new conflict of interest, new partner tier, changed data-handling policy — are logged here with an effective date. Initial publication: 2026-06-16.
