What patients are actually saying
Absolutely unacceptable experience at the Emergency Department of Eagle Ridge Hospital. A family member arrived in extreme back pain with a CT requisition and was left waiting the entire evening and well into the next day. After countless hours of pain, discomfort, and uncertainty, they were ultimately told there was essentially nothing that could be done. It is difficult to understand how someone in severe pain can be made to wait all night for care, only to leave without answers, relief, or any meaningful resolution. The lack of urgency, communication, and compassion was incredibly frustrating to witness. Patients come to a hospital expecting care, support, and professionalism. Instead, this experience felt dismissive and deeply disappointing. No one suffering significant pain should have to endure such a prolonged wait only to be left feeling unheard and unsupported. While healthcare workers face immense pressures, that does not excuse an experience where a patient spends an entire night waiting and leaves feeling no closer to getting help. This was a profoundly disappointing experience and one that has greatly reduced our confidence in the level of care being provided. Very poor experience overall. I sincerely hope improvements are made so that other patients do not have to go through the same ordeal.
If you enjoy wasting a literal quarter of your day sitting in a plastic chair just to be insulted by a drive-by diagnosis, this is the place for you. Edit * Ethan the nurse was absolutely amazing for the short time he got to spend with me after the doctor left explaining everything . I really wish him the best! The Experience: I waited 6 hours in the emergency department. Six hours of watching the clock tick while my hand was throbbing, only to finally be seen by a doctor who clearly had a brunch reservation he was running late for. The doctor was in the room for approximately 10 seconds. He didn't ask questions, didn't perform an exam, and barely looked at the injury. Instead, he confidently declared that my hand hurt because of paddle boarding. I wasn't even the one paddle boarding. It takes a special kind of medical "expertise" to blame an injury on an activity the patient didn't even participate in. To wait 360 minutes for a 10-second assumption that is factually impossible is beyond absurd. it’s a joke. Save your time and your sanity. Go literally anywhere else where the staff actually listens for more than a heartbeat before making up a reason for your pain
I visited Eagle Ridge Hospital on April 02, 2026 for what I expected to be a straightforward pain-related emergency at around 9:35 PM. Unfortunately, the experience highlighted several serious areas for improvement that I believe hospital management should urgently address to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Key Issues Experienced: Excessive Wait Times for Simple Cases: Despite arriving with a minor pain issue, we had to wait until 6:00 AM for basic prescriptions. This prolonged wait was largely due to staffing limitations, as there appeared to be only one doctor on shift. Ineffective Patient Triage: At the entrance, patients were not categorized according to the medical nature of their issue. The triage system seemed to prioritize those who were loudest or most vocal rather than the urgency of their medical condition. This approach is ineffective and can result in critical delays for genuinely urgent cases. Staff Knowledge and Professionalism: Some personnel lacked the necessary medical understanding and training to assess patients appropriately. In addition, there was a particularly unprofessional staff member whose behavior could be interpreted as dismissive or biased, which negatively impacted the overall patient experience. Such conduct undermines trust in hospital care and management. Recommendations for Improvement: Implement a triage system based strictly on medical urgency and body-system categorization, rather than perceived pain levels or vocal complaints. Ensure adequate staffing during all shifts, especially overnight, to reduce wait times for minor emergencies. Provide ongoing staff training in both clinical assessment and professional patient interaction, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and anti-bias practices. Introduce accountability mechanisms for staff behavior, including reporting and addressing unprofessional conduct swiftly. While Eagle Ridge Hospital has the facilities to provide excellent care, the above issues seriously affect patient experience and safety. I strongly urge hospital management to review these concerns and implement systemic improvements so that future patients receive timely, respectful, and competent care.
